Behind-the-scenes story: When I wrote this chapter, as well as the several chapters following it, I intended to leave it up to the reader on whether or not Phil had a crush on Jordan, because I didn’t really have an opinion on the matter (My mother, however, thought with certainty that Phil was in love with Jordan). But THEN, this very page kept getting rewritten so I could get a scene between these two that felt right, and when I started sketching what had become the final draft, I got to the last panel and realized, in that moment- Phil ABSOLUTELY has a crush on Jordan. Of COURSE he does! He’s probably had a crush on them since he was, like, 16! When she says stuff like this? There’s no way he’s not gonna turn red about it! Anyway, luckily that jaw-dropping realization didn’t require TOO many changes to what I’ve written after this, it’s just a Thing now.
